Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of an individual education program on breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy. Methods: The quasi-experimental design was employed with a nonequivalent control group pre-post test. The study was performed from January 1 to July 30, 2010 for the patients who were firstly treated by A·C (Adriamycin, Cyclophosphamide) chemotherapy in a university hospital. Control group was recruited first to prevent treatment diffusion. The experimental group was recruited and received an individual education during 30 minutes. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 16.0 version. χ²-test, t-test, and the Pearson correlation were implemented in order to examine the effect of the individual education among the patients who are treated by chemotherapy. Results: The experimental group had a greater improvement in self-care knowledge (t=-5.236, p=.001), and self-care performance (t=-6.543, p=.004) than did control group. Moreover, the experimental group had significantly positive correlation between self-care knowledge and self-care performance (r=.494, p=.006) as compared to the control group. Conclusion: The individual education program on cancer patients who were treated by chemotherapy could be utilized as an effective nursing intervention.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of an individual educational program on self-care knowledge and self-care behavior in kidney transplantation patients. Methods: The kidney transplantation patients were recruited from a transplantation center, at a university hospital located in Korea. Data were collected from June 1, 2010 to January 31, 2011. The research design was a nonequivalent one group pre-post test. Forty-two subjects were participated two times individually in an educational program given by the researcher. Results: After the intervention, the participants showed a significant increase in self-care knowledge(t=-4.10, p=.000) and self-care behavior (t=-6.07, p=.000) than before the intervention. Conclusion: This results suggest that the program developed in this study can be considered an effective nursing intervention for health promotion, prevention of complication and self-care behavior in kidney transplantation patients.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing nursing students` professional self-concept. Methods: This study was conducted through a survey on 365 nursing students. The data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires and analysed by the SPSS WIN 17.0 program using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coeffi cient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The mean score of professional self-concept was 2.83. Professional self-concept showed that there were differences according to grade, satisfaction on college life, motivation on choice of nursing, satisfaction on nursing, school work credit, interpersonal relationship, health status. There was a significant positive correlation between professional self-concept and between satisfaction with clinical practice. Signifi- cant positive correlations between professional self-concept and self-esteem, satisfaction with clinical practice and self-esteem were found. The significant factors influencing professional self-concept were self-esteem, satisfaction on clinical practice, satisfaction on nursing, interpersonal relationship, which explained 45.1% of the variance. Conclusion: This study suggests that a strategy increasing self-esteem is needed to enhance nursing students` professional self-concept.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to verify the influence of health point system on the lifestyle among the patients with chronic diseases listed in iCDMS, a project of the Incheon Metropolitan Center for Chronic Disease Control and Prevention. Methods: The data were collected 1,000 persons among the patients listed in iCDMS from March 16, 2009 to December 21, 2010 by telephone survey. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, χ²-test, odds ratio and logistic regression with the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The higher the percentage of the accumulation of the points of necessary medical examinations they have, the better the lifestyle the participants practice moderation in drinking, exercise, and diet (p<.05). Also the higher the percentage e accumulative points of education and visit, the stronger the intention to improve the lifestyle such as for example, receiving the guidance of no smoking, giving up drinking, or being conscious of nutrition and obesity (p<.05). Conclusion: This study suggests that the motivation through an incentive system can increase self-care make an effect on the care of patients with chronic diseases.

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between happiness and Yangsaeng in university students of the Republic of Korea. Yangsaeng is a traditional health care regimen that incorporates specific principles and methods with the purpose of improving the health and longevity of life. Methods: The subjects of this study were 358 university students in Korea. Data were collected by using a self-reported questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t-test, oneway ANOVA, Scheffe test, hierarchial multiple regression, and Cronbach`s alpha. Results: Practicing Yangsaeng yielded a statistically signifi- cant difference depending on the subject`s satisfaction with his/her major, monthly household income, and smoking tendencies. In comparison, the statistical degree of happiness depended on the subject`s satisfaction with the his/her major, monthly household income, and boyfriend or girlfriend situations. Yangsaeng was positively correlated with happiness (r=.66, p<.001). Hierarchial multiple regression showed that the Yangsaeng explained 43% of happiness, and if major satisfaction, monthly household income, and boyfriend or girlfriend situations were also considered, this model explained 56% of happiness. Conclusion: The Yangsaeng oriental health care regimen could produce a higher happiness level. Therefore, Yangsaeng could be recommended as a useful means of promoting health and happiness.

Abstract
Purpose: This research aimed to acquire the trends of Korean nursing research on Sasang constitutional theory. Methods: Total of 25 research articles selected from 17 nursing journals published in Korea since 1990. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Results: Experimental studies preferred to non-experimental research design. The subjects were mostly adult or geriatric population. Most frequently used intervention was diet based on Sasang constitutional theory, and health-related factors were most frequently used as variables. Conclusion: The Sasang constitutional theory considers personal differences important, so it may be suitable for individually tailored nursing care. Therefore, continuous nursing studies using interventions based on Sasang constitutional theory are needed to establish it as one of evidence-based nursing interventions.

Purpose: The design of this study is a nonequivalent control group, non-synchronized quasi-experimental study. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of laughter therapy on pain and anxiety of patients with postmastectomy. Methods: The participants were 33 patients admitted for mastectomy in a college affi liated hospital (17 patients in experimental group and 16 patients in control group from November, 2008 to March, 2009). The registered nurse who were certified as the 1st degree laughter specialist implemented the intervention once a day for 30 minutes from the 2nd day to the 6th day after surgery when visited them. Date were analyzed using t, Mann-Whitney U test, repeated measures of ANOVA, paired t-test, or ANCOVA. Results: The level of pain was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group. Since the level of pain in all participants was reduced as time passed, the interaction effect between time and group existed. The level of anxiety was significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusion: Based on the results, the laughter therapy may be recommended as an useful intervention to effectively reduce the levels of pain and anxiety among patients with postmastectomy.
